Recommended best practices using PayPal with Whindo

Recommended best practices using PayPal with Whindo Recommended best practices using PayPal with Whindo - a blog posting from Whindo - Ticket Whindo To Your Event

Whindo is an event registration and event promotion service that utilizes PayPal™ account to collect funds directly into your account. We have compiled a list of best practices and PayPal™ configuration options you should review and consider before publishing your first event. Note: You must have a free Premier or Business PayPal account to accept credit cards.

Confirm Email Address (Required)

Visit https://www.paypal.com and login with your valid PayPal credentials. Under My Account > Overview under the Notifications section on the right, you will find the Confirm email address link. Simply click this link and follow the instructions. IMPORTANT - In order to receive any Pending payments, you must first confirm your email address.

Get Verified (Highly Recommended)

What does it mean to be Verified? A Verified seller has provided additional evidence of their identity to PayPal by passing key security checks and completing the PayPal Verification process. Verification increases the overall security of the PayPal network because most buyers prefer to do business with Verified sellers. Most importantly by gettting verified you ensure that you have no receiving limits.

To get verified you simply need to add and confirm a bank account. Under My Account > Overview you will find the Status: Unverified Get verified link. The confirmation process entails PayPal making two small deposits into your bank account which you will need to enter on the PayPal website to confirm that you own the account. This process can take up to two business days so it is best to complete this process before you begin to promote your event.

Payment Receiving Preferences (Recommended)

PayPal provides several payment preferences. Adjusting these settings can improve administration for you and simplify the checkout process for your registrants. Under My Account > Profile > My selling tools you will see a listing of several configuration options.

  • Credit Card Statement Name - the name that will appear on your customers' credit card statements.
  • Block Payments for the items not sold on eBay from U.S. users who do not provide a confirmed address - because you most likely will want registrants to be able to pay with credit cards it is recommended that you set this setting to No.
  • Block the following payments - it is recommended you block payments from eChecks to prevent delays in ticket delivery. For more information on eChecks, see How to disable the PayPal eCheck payment option.

PayPal Shipping Information (Recommended)

Upon verification of a completed order Whindo automatically sends a confirmation and the purchased event tickets directly to the buyer. In most cases this occurs within seconds of a completed order. By default, PayPal displays a Ship button in your History and Transaction Details pages. If you select Shipped from PayPal it sends an additional email to the customer. Most Whindo users believe this to be unnecessary and confusing to the customer and disable this feature in the shipping settings.

How to disable the PayPal eCheck payment option

How to disable the PayPal eCheck payment option How to disable the PayPal eCheck payment option - a blog posting from Whindo - Ticket Whindo To Your Event

In addition to credit cards, Whindo is designed to accept PayPal eChecks for payment to your events. Similar to regular checks, it may take up to 10 business days for the electronic transfer to be completed and for the funds to become available in your PayPal account. Once the payment is cleared, PayPal automatically notifies Whindo's ticket delivery system. At this point Whindo will email the purchased tickets to the registrant.

The delay period during which an eCheck is clearing may coincide with your event date. If this occurs all orders in Pending status may not have received their tickets. Whindo strongly recommends you disable eCheck payments for the last 10 days leading up to your event, if not the whole event registration period.

Below we have outlined the steps to disable the eCheck payment option:

"Stupidity talks, vanity acts." - Victor Hugo

Stupidity talks vanity acts Victor Hugo Stupidity talks vanity acts Victor Hugo - a blog posting from Whindo - Ticket Whindo To Your Event

The 19th century French romantic writer Victor Hugo surely wasn't referring to website URLs, but the sentiment can be adapted to the modern application of internet marketing. Whindo's built-in analytics, personalization, security and tracking mechanisms require what appears to be very cryptic URLs, such as the following:

Whindo recognizes this is not an ideal web address to include on marketing materials or to share verbally with potential event attendees. So today Whindo introduces vanity URLs. Vanity URLs are simply a shortened, descriptive URL that is easy to remember. Each event now has a unique URL, for example:

When your event website visitor enters the vanity URL of your event the Whindo vanity URL translation engine will direct your visitor to appropriate event URL.

Repeating Events

Not every event happens just once. Your parent teacher association may meet the first Monday of every month. Your community theatre may have a production of Oklahoma running Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for the next three weeks. Your training class may be offered every Monday through Friday. Your                    happens every                   . You get the idea.

Event Registration - Date Builder

With Whindo's recurring event feature you only need to create your event once and you can sell tickets to each date! With recurring events you can define the schedule using the built in date builder or define each custom date your event will be held.
Enjoy. Enjoy. Enjoy.
