Best Practices: Uploading Images

Best Practices Uploading Images Best Practices Uploading Images - a blog posting from Whindo - Ticket Whindo To Your Event

Whindo provides several methods of customizing your event website. For example you can upload a logo, banner, sponsors, and several others images. In this article we will cover the best practices in uploading images to render the highest quality of your images. Although Whindo supports several image formats including .jpg, .png or .gif, we recommend using .png whenever possible.

The type of an image can have a drastic impact on page load speed and image quality. Use these guidelines:

  • PNGs are almost always superior to GIFs and are usually the best choice. IE 4.0b1+, Mac IE 5.0+, Opera 3.51+ and Netscape 4.04+ as well as all versions of Safari and Firefox fully support PNG, including transparency. IE versions 4 to 6 don't support alpha channel transparency (partial transparency) but they support 256-color-or-less PNGs with 1-bit transparency (the same that is supported for GIFs). IE 7 and 8 support alpha transparent PNGs except when an alpha opacity filter is applied to the element.
  • Use GIFs for very small or simple graphics (e.g. less than 10x10 pixels, or a color palette of less than 3 colors) and for images which contain animation. If you think an image might compress better as a GIF, try it as a PNG and a GIF and pick the smaller.
  • Use JPGs for all photographic-style images.

Although Whindo will automatically resize images maintaining the appropriate aspect ratio it is recommended to upload images in the standard image sizes listed below.

Standard Image Sizes

  • Logo – 211 x 150 pixels
  • Banner – 980 x 300 pixels
  • iPhone Splash Screen – 320 x 460 pixels
  • iPhone Thumbnail – 57 x 57 pixels
  • Ticket Coupon – 480 x 200 pixels
  • Speaker Photo – 200 x 200 pixels
  • Photo Gallery – 520 x 390 pixels

Adding Sales Tax To The Ticket Price Adding Sales Tax To The Ticket Price - a blog posting from Whindo - Ticket Whindo To Your Event

Whindo does not add sales tax to the price of your tickets, but with a few adjustments you can easily indicate that you are including tax in the price of your ticket. For more information on sales tax for your state, city, or county visit The Sales Tax Clearinghouse.

Below we have outlined the process to notify your buyers that sales tax is included in the ticket price.

adding sales tax to ticket price The first indication can be added to the name of the Ticket Type. Enter in the relevant tax rate into the name of the Ticket Type.

adjust ticket price to include taxes In our example, the standard ticket price is $100.00. Our combined state, city, and county sales tax rate is 8.0 percent. To include this tax rate, an additional $8.00 is added to the Ticket Price.

Add Coupons To Your Events Tickets Add Coupons To Your Events Tickets - a blog posting from Whindo - Ticket Whindo To Your Event

Customize your event tickets with coupons

Once a buyer completes an order from your event website they will receive PDF tickets for admittance into your event. This handheld ticket is an opportunity to further enhance your brand image, reward your sponsors and drive attendance to an upcoming event. In addition to displaying your logo and sponsors you can now upload an additional image to serve your marketing needs. One of your sponsors may want to purchase the image space from you or you may want to provide discount codes to your next event.

Under the Customize section of your event tools select the Ticket tab. To ensure your entire printed ticket fits onto a single page the image must be 480 pixels wide and 200 pixels high.
